Sam's Public Speaking

Sam Bailey is available as a public speaker. Whether you’re organising a conference, a local community event, or just want to inspire children at your local schools - his story will have an incredible impact and leave listeners inspired and uplifted.
Sam has an incredible ability to take an audience on the journey of his life. It's a rollercoaster ride that promises to make people laugh, cry, appreciate what they've got and realise that nothing is impossible.
He delivers his story in his own down-to-earth laconic style that captures the great Australian spirit of 'having a go' in the face of life’s challenges, finding the “grit” inside of us and living our best life. His talks have impacted the lives of people of all ages, from all walks of life.

Book

Sam Bailey suffered a spinal injury in a car accident while jakerooing in the Northern Territory at 19-years-old , leaving him a C6/C7 quadriplegic.
Hi is paralysed from the chest down with only limited use of his arms and hands and can't regulate his body temperature. He has lost bowel and bladder control and part of his lung capacity.
He has overcome those challenges to become a farmer, ultralight pilot, public speaker and best selling author of the book Head Over Heels which he co-wrote with his wife, former ABC Rural Reporter, Jenny Black.

Schools

Sam Bailey’s dream is to have an impact on every school age child across Australia. Ultimately, he hopes to achieve that goal by becoming the first quadriplegic in the world to fly a helicopter and fly into schools to speak. Meanwhile, he's spreading the word travelling in a more conventional way – by car.

Sam delivers four key messages:

Lesson One

Wear a seat belt and don't speed; and if you consider doing the wrong thing – stop – and think about the possible consequences.

Lesson Two

Always try new things. And if you fail….try again….and again….and again, even if you think you can't do it because most of the time you’ll discover you actually can do it after all.

Lesson Three

People who say you can't do something are actually helping you. Use it as motivation and decide to prove them wrong!

Lesson Four

Value your family, friends and the community you live in because when things go wrong, they’re the ones who will support you.

The students and staff at Marist College were privileged to hear the insights of Sam Bailey and his wife Jenny. You could have 'heard a pin drop' as 150 students sat riveted to every word. Drama, humour, wisdom - the speech had every aspect of a genuine life changing experience. A wonderful opportunity for any young person on the cusp of adulthood,

Marie Martin, Principal, Marist College, Emerald. (August 2010).

You don't need wings to fly...
You just need a whole lot of grit!
